Construction on the new 80,000 square foot, Central Spokane YMCA-YWCA, at 930 North Monroe, is completed, and there will be an opening dedication ceremony Saturday, May 2 at 9:30am. Public tours will continue throughout the day on Saturday until 5pm, as well as from noon to 5pm on Sunday. Parking is available at the Spokane Arena, Lot G off Lincoln Street, directly across the street from the Central Spokane Y. This Y, headed by Rig Riggins, is historic; the first in the nation to house both the YM and YWCA. Saturday’s opening is the realization of the first of two new YMCA’s and YWCA’s in Spokane. The new Y at Northpointe will open in late July. You can still help with donations, just go to yourycampaign.org.
