Strengthening local nonprofit ecosystem at educational conference

The 2nd Annual Inland Northwest Nonprofit Conference - Leadership Series will be hosted February 16th, 2012 all day at the Spokane Masonic Center. Last year's conference brought to light the interest for educational and professional development opportunities for nonprofits in the Inland Northwest. Utilizing market research, both local and regional, AE Consulting and its Advisory Board were able to select next year's classes based on the needs of area nonprofits.

Classes hosted include grants research and writing, human capital management and succession planning, strategic planning, finance, marketing, and board development. There are four sessions throughout the day, each with three classes to choose from as well as a keynote speaker during lunch, an exhibitor space showcasing nonprofit services and products, and a social hour to follow for additional networking.

The Spokane County nonprofit community has over 2,000 registered organizations and Kootenai County has over 800 (according to taxemexemptworld.com). The national economic downturn has caused incredible financial strain on our regional and local organizations and has increased their need for services. This capacity building conference educates organizations on how to fulfill their missions in an effective manor to maximize the impact of their programs.

Registration is open and early bird discounts are provided to day pass purchases made prior to 2012. Classes are also available ala carte. To register, visit www.ae-consulting.net/Conference.htm.

The Lincoln Center is blinging in the New Year

Bling! Spokane's biggest New Year's party is happening again and the Lincoln Center and Bling! sponsors plan to make this year's event an even bigger, and better party than last year.

Prizing is a big part of the celebration and fun. Over $25,000 in prizing will be given away and everyone is guaranteed a prize. Dodson's Jewelers, one of this year's sponsors, will provide gift certificates for a few lucky prize winners. Gems such as amethysts, garnets, aquamarines, sapphires and pearls will also be a part of the night's Bling! give-a-ways. Gift certificates to Luigi's restaurant, the Davenport Hotel collection and a variety of other 'Bling' are a part of the prizing as well. Come midnight, Dodson's Jewelers will be giving away the grand prize, a diamond pendant and diamond earrings that have a total weight of 1ct of diamonds set in 14k white gold. Dodson's will be celebrating over 125 years in downtown Spokane in the New Year.

Both ballrooms will be a part of the party that night. Bling! style decorations and laser lights will dress up the party rooms. VIBE will perform the classics (think the Beatles) in one room. Live hip-hop with Flying Spiders and top DJs will be on stage in the other ballroom. Guests are welcome to travel between ballrooms to enjoy all the night has to offer. Drink specials with a Bling! twist will be available and of course a champagne toast at midnight is included in the party package. (This event is for guests 21 years of age and older).

Dinner options are available and include a traditional buffet that Executive Chef Evan Ellison is putting his culinary signature on. A VIP package is also available and includes the party, special prizing, VIP seating and the buffet dinner along with distinctive featured wines selected by The Lincoln Center's Sommelier Ryan Biesen.

More information is on thelincolncenterspokane.com. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticketswest.com or 800-325-SEAT. Dinner packages require advance ticket purchase.
